Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD)

What It Is, What It Does & Why It’s Beneficial

Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) is a gentle, rhythmic massage technique designed to support the body’s lymphatic system, which plays a crucial role in detoxification, immune function, and recovery.

This light-touch method encourages lymph flow, helping the body clear toxins, reduce inflammation, and promote balance from the inside out.

What It Is

Unlike deep tissue massage, MLD works just below the skin, using slow, precise movements to stimulate the lymph vessels and direct fluid toward the body’s natural drainage pathways. It’s deeply relaxing, supportive for healing, and ideal for clients looking to reduce puffiness, inflammation, or fluid retention.

What It Does

Manual Lymphatic Drainage helps the body:

  • Reduce swelling and water retention
  • Improve circulation and detoxification
  • Calm the nervous system
  • Support immune health
  • Promote post-surgical and injury recovery

Benefits & Common Uses

MLD can be beneficial for:

  • Post-surgical recovery (including cosmetic or orthopedic procedures)
  • Sinus congestion or seasonal allergies
  • Autoimmune conditions (for inflammation and fatigue)
  • Chronic pain or fibromyalgia
  • Lymphedema and edema management
  • Digestive sluggishness or bloating
  • Headaches, jaw tension, or facial puffiness
  • Stress and nervous system imbalance
